Did you know you are the world to God?
Are you feeling a little stuck or unsure of your next step, or maybe you just can't seem to get moving?
Me too! I released my first book in September, and since then, I have felt like I am bogged and just can't get moving. To be honest, I am 99% sure of what God would want me to do next, but I just can't do it. Like turning over a stubborn engine and waiting for it to rev to life - I am stuck in rrrrrr rrrrr (the sound of a car engine trying to turn over).
I'm pretty sure I've let imposter syndrome set in and take up residence. That internal voice that questions my abilities and asks, "Did God really say that?" And for the past weeks, I have allowed it to have the louder voice.
You know I often imagine God getting frustrated with me - I give him plenty of opportunities! I see him gently shaking his head and sighing at my disbelief. My disbelief in him and all he has planned for me.
So I wanted to remind you, as I remind myself, of three things:
1. You are made in the image of God. Let's go right back to the beginning when God was creating the earth and everything in it - Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image,
in the image and likeness of God He created him;
male and female He created them.
Genesis 1:27 AMP
If we can remember this truth, we will not forget that, although we feel weak, God is strong. When we think we are not enough, God is everything. And when we feel hopeless, we need to remember that God is the God of hope.
2. He shaped and formed you, and he wrote out every day of your life as though laying a pathway for you to follow - Psalm 139:13-16
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when
I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be
Psalm 139:13-16 NIV
God wonderfully made us and has known us since, before the womb. His fingerprints were on us from before the beginning, before one molecule was formed. And we can be sure that each of us has a plan and purpose for our lives as directed by God.
3. You are the world to him. This one crept up on me the other day as I was reading my bible. At the beginning of November, this is what I journaled -
"Please God, help me focus on the next right thing for my writing and more importantly, my relationship with you. My head feels foggy and I feel so unsure of myself. Steady my feet and calm my mind."
Then in my bible reading, I landed on John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave
His only Son, that whoever believes in him
Shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 NIV
And as he so often does, the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit leaned in close to me and whispered, "You are the world to me."
Can you believe it? Can you allow yourself to hear these words and accept them as truth? That the God of the universe who created time and space, oceans and mountains. The one who designed every living creature sees you as his world! He sent his Son as your sin offering so you could once again walk in the 'cool of the evening' with him.
He loves you, he made you, and you have everything you need to step confidently into what he has planned for you.
So let's do it together. Email me at nicci@niccitoomey.com and tell me you are ready to take the plunge with me. To step boldly out, knowing whose we are and the power that comes with that.
You are made in the image of God, and you are the world to him.
Don't you ever forget it!
Much love, Nicci x
